FELTRAIGER Volunteer Day
After the storm and getting closer to Thanksgiving the Feltraiger team wanted to help give back to our community. We decided to have a Volunteer day. We gave Pathways a call and asked how we could help. They told us they were having an early Thanksgiving and would love for us to come out and lend a hand or two. We happily obliged.
In 1992 Pathways to Housing started out with a $500,000 grant from New York City. This grant was to help the homeless people with psychiatric disabilities get into homes and provide a support system they could count on while they rejoined the community.
Since 1992, Pathways NY has helped thousands of New Yorkers. Today, Pathways NY provides housing and services to over 650 people throughout the city, expanding from it’s first office in Harlem to two service teams in Brooklyn, one in Queens and two in East Harlem and a team in Westchester.
Pathways NY offers classes in GED equivalency, computers, Spanish, cooking, nutrition, harm reduction, photography, painting, and more. Pathways is also a social science laboratory and is constantly researching the effectiveness of the Housing First model, implementing and testing new practices in order to best serve its clients.
